AAMC PRESIDENT'S LETTER
January 2012

My dear Artists,

We have begun a new year, 2012, and with it an opportunity to make changes. Last year I wrote about resolving to change at least one thing relating to our art. My own resolution was to make a value sketch before starting a painting. Sounded good, didn't it? But, what did I do instead? I thought about it a lot, realized it was a good idea, then decided I enjoy painting without ever using a pencil at all and proceeded to work that way. Plain paper, paint, a brush and hope for the best!

This year I'm not giving advice because I can't follow my own it seems. However I did honor one part of the idea, making a change and that is my wish for you. Try something new, you never know, you just might create a masterpiece.

The HoHoHo outdoor art sale on December 3rd enjoyed good weather, offered many tables of original artwork and homemade creations along with a steady flow of shoppers.

A sad note was the news we received that morning, that Peggy Meissner, our corresponding secretary, had passed away. Peggy leaves a wonderful legacy of exactly how a board member should conduct themselves.  She always went over and above what was expected of her and kept us all focused and entertained with her knowledge gained through many years of dedicated experience. She will be greatly missed but never forgotten.

I wish to thank all the members who contributed to our holiday party. It was a success with lots of delectable food, good cheer and interesting offerings to bid on. I think everyone went home feeling that they had gotten at least one great deal. The handmade cards were both beautiful and plentiful. Thank you to our new card deliverer Marsha Frelund who has agreed to take over for Irene Mortensen. And thank you also to Irene for many years of faithfully delivering cards to nursing homes for AAMC.

Looking forward to seeing you at our next meeting on January 9th.

Happy New YOU!!

Sharon Ferina
