JACKIE BARNES
Jackie was introduced to the world of art, by a friend who is an accomplished artist. Without formal training, she began building her skills by first studying privately and taking classes with local instructors. Jackie is currently and Elliott Museum volunteer, where her work has been exhibited outdoors at the art shows. As a member of the Jensen Beach Art League, and Martin County Art Associates, she also participates in local exhibitions, and her work has appeared in many local Juried Art shows, as well as in various Private Collections in Florida, Virginia, and California. A Personal Comment Jackie claims "Each painting is a challenge, and so enjoyable that you could call it therapy." ART SHOWS:

Jackie Barnes has been expressing herself through the medium of oil for about 20 years. Jackie is attracted to seascapes, because of her love for anything to do with the sea. Formerly from Virginia, the Chesapeake Bay was her playground, weekends and vacations were spent sailing and fishing. After retiring from NASA, Hampton, VA in 1976, she and her husband fulfilled their lifelong dream to cruise aboard their sailboat to places unknown. The adventure brought them to South Florida and the Bahamas. As a certified diver, her awareness of the colors of the ocean and aquatic life was heightened and is reflected in her work.
