Vera Mangold was born in 1945 in a small farming/oil and gas field community in South Texas. She was good at drawing and painting from childhood, so after retiring from banking and credit management she took up art with a natural interest. Books to study, a couple of workshops and lots of practice gave her the foundation she needed become an enthusiastic watercolorist, and recently, an acrylic artist. She has always loved the outdoors - she and her husband Gene lived aboard their 41 foot sailboat for 13 years, partly while they were working professionals and also including a 2-year sabbatical cruise down island to Venezuela - so plein air artwork is a great blessing to her. She and her husband now live in Stuart, Florida. Vera is a member of Art Associates of Martin County, Hobe Sound Fine Arts League, and Cloudcroft Art Society in Cloudcroft, New Mexico.
